Gil Tankus – My Lamerhav experience
Lamerhav was a place where I could be at the center. A place where I felt that I could evolve in the direction I wanted to go, and yet, explore other possibilities in a containing environment. Lamerhav was a fun place, a place where I could just hang out on the lawn or on the couch, play the guitar and enter into philosophical discussions with the other counsellors and young adults around. Lamerhav was a place of discussions, and arguments and compromise and agreement, almost every emotion in the range of emotions came up at one time or another. It’s difficult to summarize in a paragraph “what Lamerhav is to me” – perhaps because it is impossible.
One Big Happy Family: Seminar at Lamerhav House In Afula
Last weekend, the young adults of the Lamerhav House in Afula went on an annual seminar designed for the participants of all stages. The seminar is an annual highlight event in the mentoring process, as the summer marks the transition between the various stages in the program, and also serves as an opportunity to celebrate the end of the joint annual process.
Meet the team: David Avraham
David Abraham is a personal counsellor for young adults with no family support network in the areas of employment and career in Beer Sheva. David holds a B.Ed. from the Open University and is currently a student for a Master’s Degree in Organizational Development at The Academic College of Tel Aviv-Yaffo. David has worked for several years in post-hospitalization settings, as well as integration of special needs youth in mainstream education.
Partners in Childhood
Last week, the Stage Two (military service) young adults of the “Partners for the Road” Program met at the Lamerhav House in Beer Sheva. They took part in a preparatory meeting towards the end of the year, dealing with “Back to Childhood.” The meeting was led by Efrat and Chen (specializing in criminology) and Noa, the National Service girl.
